German Shepherd dogs, as well as the other herding breeds that we have in rescue, are highly active, energetic, working breeds. They require considerable vetting, exercise, socialization, training, leadership and mental stimuli in order to be well-adjusted, well-balanced, and well-mannered dogs. Even if you exercise and play with your dog daily in your fenced yard, you MUST still take your dog out on daily walks and outings in order to work on his/her leash skills, manners, and social skills. These breeds make great additions to active families who will pamper them, but who will also work with them, as they are smart dogs who need leadership, structure, plenty of activity and mental stimulation. 

If you are new to German Shepherds (and other herding breeds), please research the breed to make sure this is the dog for you. Annie is a gorgeous, very sweet, active, super friendly and fluffy 4 y.o. girl.  This beautiful girl has a wonderfully cheerful personality. Annie is extremely smart, knows all her basic commands, and picks things up quickly just by observing! She's great on a leash, and is perfectly behaved when she goes places. Annie loves to explore but always stays close, and keeps a close eye on her humans. She is super fun, interactive, and extremely loyal. Annie LOVES to chew on antlers! She loves people, wants to greet everyone, loves kids, and kids love her. She bonds to her people very strongly, and while she won't pester you for attention, likes to stick close (she will lie down or sit on the couch with you if you are sitting, stand up if you do, walk when you walk) she is so in-tune with you and is ultra-devoted! Because Annie can be pretty selective around other dogs, we would like to find her a home where she can be the only dog. She is however great around cats and horses! Annie is lovable, playful, and well-behaved on outings. Annie will make a fun, devoted companion for a very lucky adopter! Annie would love to find pet parents who work from home, are retired, or otherwise home a lot. If you work from home she will quietly sit with you and not disturb. If retired she will happily do whatever you are doing. She loves riding in the car and is quiet and alert when doing so. She is a velcro dog without being demanding of attention. Being with you is all she wants. Annie is a wonderful, intuitive companion, and the perfect dog for anyone looking for companionship, and/or a fabulous partner.

Annie's adoption fee is $275, all of which goes back into offseting our high-cost vetting expenses and rescuing more dogs. Adoption fees include spay/neuter, current on age-appropriate vaccinations, fecal, deworming, flea/tick and heartworm preventative, heartworm tested if old enough (treated if positive), and microchipped.
