German Shepherd dogs, as well as the other herding breeds that we have in rescue, are highly active, energetic, working breeds. They require considerable vetting, exercise, socialization, training, leadership and mental stimuli in order to be well-adjusted, well-balanced, and well-mannered dogs. Even if you exercise and play with your dog daily in your fenced yard, you MUST still take your dog out on daily walks and outings in order to work on his/her leash skills, manners, and social skills. These breeds make great additions to active families who will pamper them, but who will also work with them, as they are smart dogs who need leadership, structure, plenty of activity and mental stimulation.

Sophie is a very sweet, happy, and affectionate 4 year old girl. Sophie is a typical young adult, with lots of energy and stamina. She enjoys being on-the-go and spending time with her humans. Sophie is very ball-driven and LOVES playing with/chasing after her ball. She enjoys car rides and likes to go for walks.

Sophie is a sweet, sensitive girl, who can get a little spooked by loud voices, unfamiliar situations, and if surprised/startled. She is quickly learning that she has nothing to fear and that it's all uphill from here, and she is gaining confidence every day in her awesome foster home. Sophie is very eager to please and learn new things. She already knows sit, down, stay, and she is currently working on heel. Sophie is crate and potty-trained. She is good with cats and familiar dogs. She loves giving kisses and loves being praised. 

Sophie is a true gem. She is looking for a forever home with active parents who are calm, confident, loving leaders.
