German Shepherd dogs, as well as the other herding breeds that we have in rescue, are highly active, energetic, working breeds. They require considerable vetting, exercise, socialization, training, leadership and mental stimuli in order to be well-adjusted, well-balanced, and well-mannered dogs. Even if you exercise and play with your dog daily in your fenced yard, you MUST still take your dog out on daily walks and outings in order to work on his/her leash skills, manners, and social skills. These breeds make great additions to active families who will pamper them, but who will also work with them, as they are smart dogs who need leadership, structure, plenty of activity and mental stimulation.

Parker is a handsome, 12 week-old boy puppy who was rescued from a reservation in South Dakota. Parker arrived sick with Parvo and spent close to a week hospitalized, fighting for his life. Luckily, Parker is a fighter, and thanks to excellent vet care, lots of TLC in his foster home, and a bit of luck, he made it! Parker is fully recovered, doing great, and he is now ready for a forever home of his own.

Parker is a wonderful puppy with a fun personality. He is smart, inquisitive, and playful. Parker loves to play with the other dogs in his foster home, and he does well with the cat as well. He is adventurous and loves exploring new things and places with his humans. He loves chew toys, bones, and stuffed animals. When he isn't playing, he likes to curl up on a dog bed or by his foster parents' to take a power nap!

Parker is pretty smart and knows how to trick his foster siblings into dropping something he wants, before sprinting off and disappearing with the coveted item! Parker already knows "sit" and "down". Parker is working on his potty-training and he is doing well. He is very food-motivated and as soon as he sees or hears the treat cupboard opening, he is right there at your feet sitting nicely, hoping for a reward :). 

Like all German Shepherd and German Shepherd mix puppies, Paker will need training, consistency, boundaries, and lots of activity and socialization, in order to become a well-balanced, well-behaved dog.
