German Shepherd dogs, as well as the other herding breeds that we have in rescue, are highly active, energetic, working breeds. They require considerable vetting, exercise, socialization, training, leadership and mental stimuli in order to be well-adjusted, well-balanced, and well-mannered dogs. Even if you exercise and play with your dog daily in your fenced yard, you MUST still take your dog out on daily walks and outings in order to work on his/her leash skills, manners, and social skills. These breeds make great additions to active families who will pamper them, but who will also work with them, as they are smart dogs who need leadership, structure, plenty of activity and mental stimulation.

Monroe is a very sweet, super handsome puppy who landed in a rural kill shelter in Missouri that was quickly filling up. Monroe was a little shy at first but sweet and friendly, and so thankful and relieved to be leaving the pound! 

Monroe is only 6 months old, 34 lbs, and he is everyone's friend! He loves people (including kids), and does well with other dogs, and cats. He is a great puppy! Monroe is a quick-learner and is eager to please. He is potty and crate-trained, and does well having free range of the house. Monroe loves going for walks, hikes, and he also loves running around and playing in the backyard with the household dog. In fact, he is very playful with other dogs! Monroe loves to go on car rides, walks well on a leash and is well-behaved on walks and outings. Monroe truly is the whole package: his looks are stunning, he has a wonderful temperament, and he is a true joy to have around. He will be a great addition to a very lucky, active family! 

Monroe's adoption fee is $395, all of which goes back into offseting our high-cost vetting expenses and rescuing more dogs. Adoption fees include spay/neuter, current on age-appropriate vaccinations, fecal, deworming, flea/tick and heartworm preventative, heartworm tested if old enough (treated if positive), and microchipped.
