German Shepherd dogs, as well as the other herding breeds that we have in rescue, are highly active, energetic, working breeds. They require considerable vetting, exercise, socialization, training, leadership and mental stimuli in order to be well-adjusted, well-balanced, and well-mannered dogs. Even if you exercise and play with your dog daily in your fenced yard, you MUST still take your dog out on daily walks and outings in order to work on his/her leash skills, manners, and social skills. These breeds make great additions to active families who will pamper them, but who will also work with them, as they are smart dogs who need leadership, structure, plenty of activity and mental stimulation.

Java is an adorable girl who came into rescue heavily pregnant, from a kill shelter in Oklahoma. We are so glad that we were able to bring Java and her unborn puppies to safety, so that they can now experience life as beloved family pets. Java was a wonderful, devoted mama to her puppies, Torani & Cortado. Java's puppies have found wonderful furever homes of their own, and now it's Java's turn!

Java can be a little bit timid at first, but she's also very cuddly and loves to be petted! In fact, she won't hesitate to demand all the pets she thinks she needs by pawing at you or nudging your hand. She loves toys and bones. She's very curious, and very smart, so she picks up on new things quickly. Java knows "sit" and "come". She is crate-trained and potty trained. She pulls a little on a leash, but she corrects easily.  Java is a wonderful, good-natured girl who does well with other dogs, and enjoys getting attention from people. 

Java's adoption fee is $325, all of which goes back into offsetting our high-cost vetting expenses and rescuing more dogs. Adoption fees include spay/neuter, current on age-appropriate vaccinations, fecal, deworming, flea/tick and heartworm preventative, heartworm tested if old enough (treated if positive), and microchipped.
