Bentley *Miracle Dog #761* needs a caretaker or foster! Won't you consider helping him get a new start?

German Shepherd dogs, as well as the other herding breeds that we have in rescue, are highly active, energetic, working breeds. They require considerable vetting, exercise, socialization, training, leadership and mental stimuli in order to be well-adjusted, well-balanced, and well-mannered dogs. Even if you exercise and play with your dog daily in your fenced yard, you MUST still take your dog out on daily walks and outings in order to work on his/her leash skills, manners, and social skills. These breeds make great additions to active families who will pamper them, but who will also work with them, as they are smart dogs who need leadership, structure, plenty of activity and mental stimulation.

If you are new to German Shepherds (and other herding breeds), please research the breed to make sure this is the dog for you. We ask that you consider the time and financial commitment that your German Shepherd (or other herding breed) dog will require before applying for one. Please review the section on our website (www.heartlandgsrescue.org) "Is a HUGS Dog Right for You?" for additional information.

About Bentley *Miracle Dog #761*

  • Status: Adopted!
  • Adoption Fee: $400
  • Species: Dog
  • Current Age: 10 Years 4 Months (best estimate)

Bentley is a gorgeous, fluffy 2 y.o. boy whom we were able to rescue from a high-kill shelter in California, thanks to the amazing Miracle GSD Network. When he first arrived, Bentley's beautiful coat was matted and in much need of grooming. Bentley let his foster mom brush him out, cut the mats that were beyond brushing, and he even let her handle his feet without any complaints.

Bentley is a head-turner with his striking good-looks! He is also a lover who just wants to snuggle. He likes to lay on the couch and puts his head on foster mom's lap, and he is friendly enough to do this with visitors too :). Bentley is great on a leash and loves to go on walks. Bentley is gentle and takes treats gently.  Bentley is good with other dogs of different sizes and temperament. Foster mom tell us that Bentley is respectful of her older Shepherd who likes his space, and is tolerant of the playful puppy in the house. Bentley has been doing great with kids 11 years old and older. Bentley is playful with other dogs, loves antlers, does well in the house when supervised, and he crates well.

Bentley is a gem! He is a handsome, affectionate, lovable young boy, who will delight a very lucky family!
