German Shepherd dogs, as well as the other herding breeds that we have in rescue, are highly active, energetic, working breeds. They require considerable vetting, exercise, socialization, training, leadership and mental stimuli in order to be well-adjusted, well-balanced, and well-mannered dogs. Even if you exercise and play with your dog daily in your fenced yard, you MUST still take your dog out on daily walks and outings in order to work on his/her leash skills, manners, and social skills. These breeds make great additions to active families who will pamper them, but who will also work with them, as they are smart dogs who need leadership, structure, plenty of activity and mental stimulation.

McKinney is a sweet 2.5 month-old boy who was came into rescue with his mom, Trinity and a litter of 7 puppies. This adorable furry family was very lucky to come into rescue when it did, as they were loaded with parasites, and extremely undernourished. We are so glad that we were able to bring Trinity and her puppies to safety, so that they can now experience life as beloved family pets.

McKinney is a fun pup with loads of energy and personality. He is easy-going and likes to play, and be around people. He is always at your side or walking in-between your legs. His most favorite things are snuggling, being held, and attention from his people. During play he loves to carry balls in the yard, play with his sister, and his foster brother. McKinney is doing great with his potty-training. Currently he lives in a home with his sister and a 5 year old German Shepherd who he loves spending time with. He is well socialized loves to play many adults and kids as they visit with no issues. He is a very smart, loyal, and friendly pup who would make a great companion and he has so much love to give. McKinney really thrives on social attention from his people and would be best in a home where he gets lots of attention

Like all German Shepherd Dogs, Australian Cattle Dogs, and other herding breed mixes that we have in rescue, McKinney will need training, consistency, boundaries, and lots of activity and socialization, in order to become a well-balanced, well-behaved dog.
