German Shepherd dogs, as well as the other herding breeds that we have in rescue, are highly active, energetic, working breeds. They require considerable vetting, exercise, socialization, training, leadership and mental stimuli in order to be well-adjusted, well-balanced, and well-mannered dogs. Even if you exercise and play with your dog daily in your fenced yard, you MUST still take your dog out on daily walks and outings in order to work on his/her leash skills, manners, and social skills. These breeds make great additions to active families who will pamper them, but who will also work with them, as they are smart dogs who need leadership, structure, plenty of activity and mental stimulation.

Jack and his brother Arvid were rescued from an outdoor back pen had stranded them at a family member's house,  after being unable to continue caring for them. Poor Jack and Arvid were lucky to survive in below 20 degree temps before being taken to the shelter. The small shelter was filling up very quickly due to the dreadful "Holiday dump". These 2 boys are very lucky that our friend, the fabulous Jennifer V, with Rave Rescue, sprang them out before it was too late, and took great care of them so that they could safely look for rescue .

Jack is an adorable sweet blue-eyed pup who is coming out of his shy shell as he becomes more confident that his humans will love and take care of him.  He has a super laid back attitude and fits right in with other dogs and kids. He is getting used to being spoiled rotten and loves to sleep with his humans. He is smart and working hard on his crate and potty training.  Jack has been through some challenges, but he is still a puppy and needs his play time. He really seems to be thankful for his humans helping him out and just wants to work hard and be loved.

Like all German Shepherd Dogs, Australian Cattle Dogs, and other herding breed mixes that we have in rescue, Jack will need training, consistency, boundaries, and lots of activity and socialization, in order to become a well-balanced, well-behaved dog.
