German Shepherd dogs, as well as the other herding breeds that we have in rescue, are highly active, energetic, working breeds. They require considerable vetting, exercise, socialization, training, leadership and mental stimuli in order to be well-adjusted, well-balanced, and well-mannered dogs. Even if you exercise and play with your dog daily in your fenced yard, you MUST still take your dog out on daily walks and outings in order to work on his/her leash skills, manners, and social skills. These breeds make great additions to active families who will pamper them, but who will also work with them, as they are smart dogs who need leadership, structure, plenty of activity and mental stimulation.

Lola is a sweet, shy young girl, who was running out of time at a high-kill shelter in California. We were able to rescue her in the nick of time, in partnership with the amazing Miracle GSD Network.

Lola is a little shy at first, but quickly comes out of her shell! She is smart, playful, and full-of-life! Lola has many wonderful qualities: she is very sweet, happy, affectionate, and eager-to-please. She quickly learned “sit”, “down”, “shake”, “come”, “gentle”, and “stay”. She loves to zoom around when she’s excited and she is adorable in her puppyish enthusiasm. But she also settles down very nicely and is happy to cuddle for a movie.

Lola likes to stick very close to her people and greets strangers great when properly introduced. She loves to snooze on a soft bed beside yours at night.  Lola is good on a leash, rides very well in the car and does very well in public. Lola loves her toys, and she chews on them so carefully and lovingly! She is currently working on ignoring distractions and not being reactive to other dogs on walks, and is doing very well.  She's a very good girl! Lola is crate-trained, very food-motivated and willing to work for treats. Lola does very well with teenage kids, but because of her size and enthusiasm, she might not be the best fit around very young children or small animals. Adorable young Lola would love to be an only dog, as she really wants to be the center of your world.

Lola would be a wonderful addition to an active home looking for a very sweet girl. She really likes to run and play. She loves long walks, car rides, exploring new trails, playing fetch, and just being around her people. She is an exceptionally bright, loving, active companion, who will be the pride and joy of a very lucky adopter!

Lola is a delightful youngster who will excel with active adopters who are able to provide daily walks in addition to backyard playtime, outings for socialization, and the usual training (positive reinforcement training) that GSD youngsters require. Because of that, Lola's ideal owner will have prior GSD experience.

Lola's adoption fee is $350, all of which goes back into offseting our high-cost vetting expenses and rescuing more dogs.  We are a 100% volunteer-run rescue group and rely on adoption fees and donations to continue saving lives. Adoption fees include spay/neuter, current on age-appropriate vaccinations, fecal, deworming, flea/tick and heartworm preventative, heartworm tested if old enough (and treated if positive), and microchipped.
