German Shepherd dogs, as well as the other herding breeds that we have in rescue, are highly active, energetic, working breeds. They require considerable vetting, exercise, socialization, training, leadership and mental stimuli in order to be well-adjusted, well-balanced, and well-mannered dogs. Even if you exercise and play with your dog daily in your fenced yard, you MUST still take your dog out on daily walks and outings in order to work on his/her leash skills, manners, and social skills. These breeds make great additions to active families who will pamper them, but who will also work with them, as they are smart dogs who need leadership, structure, plenty of activity and mental stimulation. 

If you are new to German Shepherds (and other herding breeds), please research the breed to make sure this is the dog for you. Marianna is a lovely, social, and playful girl, who was found injured in the streets of California, and taken to a high-kill shelter. We were able to rescue her in the nick of time, in partnership with the amazing Miracle GSD Network. Marianna is fully recovered, happy as can be to have been rescued, and cannot wait to find her furever home!

Marianna is 5 yo, which is a great age for a GSD! She walks well on a leash, has lots of energy, and loves to go for long walks. She is smart, sweet and perky! She can be a little timid in new places/situations, but she is a really good girl, and she will stick very close to her humans and look up to them for guidance and reassurance. She is an enthusiastic, hands-on player, who would do best with other playful dogs. Marianna is a lovely, active companion. Her soulful eyes and adorable "airplane" ears give her a unique and endearing look!  She is a loyal girl who will sleep on the edge of her dog bed, as close to her humans as she can. She loves her food. She also loves to watch (and chase) squirrels in the yard. Marianna is friendly, lovable, and she will steal your heart!

Marianna's adoption fee is $350, all of which goes back into offseting our high-cost vetting expenses and rescuing more dogs. Adoption fees include spay/neuter, current on age-appropriate vaccinations, fecal, deworming, flea/tick and heartworm preventative, heartworm tested if old enough (treated if positive), and microchipped.
