German Shepherd dogs, as well as the other herding breeds that we have in rescue, are highly active, energetic, working breeds. They require considerable vetting, exercise, socialization, training, leadership and mental stimuli in order to be well-adjusted, well-balanced, and well-mannered dogs. Even if you exercise and play with your dog daily in your fenced yard, you MUST still take your dog out on daily walks and outings in order to work on his/her leash skills, manners, and social skills. These breeds make great additions to active families who will pamper them, but who will also work with them, as they are smart dogs who need leadership, structure, plenty of activity and mental stimulation.

Winston is an adorable little guy who is a little shy at first, but very sweet, friendly and affectionate, once he knows you. Winston was rescued from a small rural area in OK.

Winston loves to give love and receive it too! He loves to be around people, so whether you are relaxing on the couch or up around the house, he will be right next to you. He will approach new people with a friendly wag and is very patient & calm with kids. He is great with other pets (dogs and cats). He is sweet, fun, loving, and very adventurous. He loves to go everywhere with his humans. He is doing well with crate-training and potty-training.

Like all dogs that we have in rescue, Winston will need training, consistency, boundaries, and lots of activity and socialization, in order to be a well-balanced, well-behaved dog.
